Amie Strickland

Assistant Director of Research

Amie Hubbell Strickland, Assistant Director of Research, received a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University, with a major in art history and minors in studio art and French, interning at the New Orleans Museum of Art during the summers. She graduated from Tulane University with a Master of Arts in art history, with a concentration in 19th century European paintings. After receiving her M.A., Strickland taught at the School of Continuing Studies and served as the Visual Resources Curator in the Art Department at Tulane University before accepting a position at The Historic New Orleans Collection as the Assistant Curator of Education and Museum Programs. At The Collection, she participated in the award winning “Dollop of History in Every Bite” program for New Orleans public schools and helped coordinate the joint exhibition between the New Orleans Museum of Art and The Historic New Orleans Collection, “The New Orleans Arts and Crafts Club: An Artistic Legacy.” Strickland is a native of New Orleans and attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart. With family roots tracing back to the 1700s in Louisiana, Strickland has always had a passion for genealogy and Southern history which led to her expertise in Southern Regional art and 19th century Southern portraiture.
